I have questions about how to set up my business in Liquid and complete onboarding.

Here are the most frequently asked questions about setting up your Vendor business in Liquid and completing onboarding.

How do I accept the invitation from my Client to join Liquid?

What company type do I pick?

If you aren't sure what to pick because you don't have a business, you should probably pick Sole Proprietor.

What do I list as my business name?

If you do business as yourself, be sure to enter your own legal name and to choose sole proprietor/individual when asked for your entity type.

What do I list as my title?

Once you get to the Title part of your onboarding process, please note that you should typically enter your title at your own business/entity.

It says I'm still IN PROCESS.

II after creating your business you find that IN PROCESS is still listed on your Client's card (in the Clients section), please click the IN PROCESS on their client card to start and complete the onboarding process requested by your client.

I have questions about the Onboarding process.

If you have questions about the specific documents you are being asked to fill out and sign during the onboarding process you should consult your attorney or ask your Client. In general, you are asked to complete a Master contract / consulting agreement, a Non disclosure agreement / Confidential Information and Invention Assignment Agreement, and an IRS form. These types of contracts lay out the terms of your working arrangement with your Client.

I don't have any inventions.

If you don't have any inventions, you can leave that field blank.

What should I list as the companies where I may have conflicts with performing my services?

You should list any agreements you have with companies that may cause conflicts with the Client you are completing onboarding for now. If you don't have any agreements with companies that may cause conflicts with the Client that is onboarding you now, you can leave that field blank.

Why am I being asked to complete an IRS form W9 or IRS form W8?

Businesses located in the United States are required to collect an IRS Form W9 from US vendors and are required to collect an IRS Form W8 from non-US vendors. Even if you are not subject to US law, your Client who is a US business must collect an IRS Form W8 from you to comply with US tax laws.

Don't I need to submit my own country's tax ID?

This IRS Form W8 and W9 only accept US Tax IDs so at this time Liquid does not collect tax IDs issued by other countries.

I don't see my Client listed in the Clients section.

If after creating your business you find that your Client is not listed as a Client (in the Clients section), please find the original system generated email from Liquid notifying you that your client has invited you. Then, click the link in that email to start and complete the onboarding process requested by your client.

How do I add my bank account?

Here's how to add your bank account if you are located in the US

Here's how to add your bank account if you are located overseas.

The bank branch name and address showing for my SWIFT code is different than my actual bank branch name and address.

You can use the toggle to update that information manually or you can leave it as is.

Why does my bank account still say unverified?

It can take up to 5 business days for bank accounts added for overseas vendors to be manually reviewed and verified. If you are in the US and used Plaid to add your bank account, you may have to log in to your bank account to get your microdeposit amounts and enter those into Liquid.
